Dental Care From a San Diego Dentist

Whether your teeth need to be cleaned, repaired or crowned, we can help with Art of Dentistry.

Dental cleanings remove plaque and tartar deposits that build up on teeth. We also provide fluoride treatments to help prevent tooth decay.

NBC 7 Investigates spoke to two mothers who say they took their children to Nguyen for treatment. One of them filed a state complaint in 2018.

Preventive Care

Most dental problems are best treated in their early stages when they’re reversible. Preventive dentistry includes dental exams, dental X-rays and dental cleanings. This prevents dental problems such as tooth decay and gum disease before they become more serious.

Regular oral exams are important because they allow our dentist to identify any changes in your smile that might indicate potential issues. It’s also recommended to receive a professional teeth cleaning at least twice each year to eliminate deep-set plaque and tartar that brushing and flossing cannot reach.

We offer educational presentations on a variety of oral health topics for children and adults. These presentations range in duration and are catered to meet your needs. In addition, we provide fluoride varnish application and referrals for dental sealants for preschools, school age children and homeless youth in the community.

Restorative Care

Restorative care is an interdisciplinary program that evaluates residents’ underlying abilities and helps them maintain their functional abilities. It is different from therapy and has much broader scope.

In long-term care, restorative programs are designed to keep residents at their highest level of function and prevent declines that impact quality of life. They are a required part of long-term care as mandated by CMS requirements.

Many facilities have a resident-centric restorative care team. This team develops the program based on the outcomes of the resident’s evaluation. In most cases, the therapists will recommend the resident to the restorative care team after determining that the resident has achieved their maximum potential in therapy and needs to focus on maintenance and prevention of declines.

Restorative and activity program teams must work together to ensure that the residents are adequately prepared for the group programs. They also need to schedule the programs so that the nurse aides can get the residents up, toileted and ready for the programs at times when call lights are least prevalent, such as prior to or after meals.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is a bit of a buzz word and many dental offices advertise themselves as offering cosmetic treatments. Generally speaking, it refers to any dental work that improves the appearance (though not necessarily the functionality) of your teeth, gums and bite.

Teeth whitening is one of the most common cosmetic treatments and it’s also the least invasive. It can remove stains caused by foods, drinks, medications and personal habits like tobacco use.

Composite bonding is a procedure that repairs chipped, cracked or misshapen teeth using a material that matches your tooth color. It can also address minor tooth decay and prevent future tooth damage by covering the damaged area. It is an alternative to fillings and crowns.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are high-tech replacement teeth that look, feel and act like real teeth. A titanium “root” is inserted into the jaw bone and then supports a bridge, crown or denture.

Implants offer superior stability compared to alternative tooth replacement options. They fuse to the bone and help prevent bone loss in the area of the missing tooth.

Other tooth replacement options, such as a traditional bridge, require the modification of healthy teeth on both sides of the gap. This process can damage adjacent teeth and cause the jawbone to shrink in the area of the missing tooth.

An implant-supported bridge or denture will fill the gap without impacting healthy teeth. It will also allow you to bite and chew normally, which can improve your quality of life and boost self-esteem. Implants also preserve facial structure and stop the natural atrophy of the gums that occurs with missing teeth. This is because dental roots provide stimulation to the jawbone.
